Dipstick blows out @ 8psi+??

This is on a B18C w/Drag kit. When running at 8 psi hard or above, the oil dipstick will just shoot up. We checked the rubber grommet on the stick, which yes it is worn out. But should the boost pressure be causing this or is it something else? Would the new dipstick fix this problem? The car has been boosted for over a year, and this problem just started last week.
how about your motor mounts are they worn out? if they are cracked the torque of your engine will shoot your dipstick out..happened to me with broken mounts now I have no problems with that...

do you have a catch can? if so its prob clogged up</TD></TR></TABLE>
No, I was thinking about installing a catchcan. Are you talking about venting it from the valve cover to releave pressure?

I will go out and double check the mounts (I beleive they are fine) but how would that be possible. Are you saying the jerk of the motor was vaulting the dipstick out of the tube?

I had a new stock dipstick and bad mounts, its a possible solution, I know it wasn't boost on my end because before the turbo with bad mounts it would pop up and oil would get on my mani, so once i put my poly mounts on, it did not pop out anymore. I was turbo shortly after with same engine had no problems with the dip stick, besides blowing the thrust seal on my turbo because of my 4an line
oops.

sounds like serious blow by
when less boost = less crank case pressure, you have really bad blow by

So what would be the suggested fix? Do I just need to run a catch can setup?

Damn again. I had blow by in my last car (Boosted SOHC Greddy), but it just went through oil. Didn't leak or smoke, just used oil, especially under extremely hard driving.
Any other info??
BTW- The GSR isn't mine

Pull the PCV out of the oil separator and leave it attached on the IM side so you don't have a vacuum leak, then take it for a rip at 8psi and see if it pops the dipstick out again.
They are so cheap, if it is old and got some wear/ buildup on it... I just would throw in a new one.
Anyways... I believe the suggested method for testing them is... with the car at idle, pinch the hose going from the pcv to the intake manifold (pliers help here but dont tear up the hose being brutish). You should hear a light click each time you pinch the line, as the ball inside drops to close the valve with no vaccum source.
A test to make sure it is not leaking under boost is easy but sometimes less tasty... take out the pcv and try to blow into the small end (the one the hose sides on to go back to the intake). If you turn blue (or any other odd pigments) it is sealed good and it is not leaking...

That is the most whacked out thing Ive heard today.

hahahaha now that **** is funny about the motor mounts.
I read a forum about this like last week. They said to check the compression just like someone else in this same forum has indicated. The pressure gets pushed past the pistons and into the oil pan causing the dip stick to rise up. Sure does sound like a cylinder leak to me.

Looks like someone started celebrating 4/20 waaaaayyyyy too early, lol

Do you still have your valve cover vent tube attached to the air pipe near the throttle body? I've seen people do that and turbo-charge their crankcase, blowing out the dipstick, oil seals, etc.

No its not connected.
I'll try checking the pcv tomorrow morning
Thanks for the info

Make sure you check out your pcv valve first, but its still doing it then do a leakdown test, if you don't have a leakdown tester, connect an air source to the cylinder(ie use the hose from the compression checker) make sure the cylinder at TDC, turn the air source(air compressor usually) down to about 45 psi, then listen where air leaks, If it's out the exhaust its exhaust valves, if its out the Tb then its the intake vlaves , if its out the breather its rings or head gasket.Hopefully it hold with out any leaks. Good luck
You may just need better crankcase ventilation. I had to ditch my PCV system and vent the crankcase through a breather (I used the Endyn kit) because the crankcase pressure was causing the oil to back up in the return line and seep out of thecompressor seal. I'm running 20 PSI of boost though.
