Y1 tranny input shaft bearing
hello, i recently did a b16a1 swap in my 91 civic sedan, and have a noise when tranny in neutral at idle,, sounds like bad input shaft bearing, and also makes noise when im on the gas in any gear, or downshifting, i believe that this is the input shaft bearing, i have a Y1 tranny, and was wondering which bearing to use, and how big of a job it is to change, (after the tranny is out of the car) or if there is any guide's on here?, thanks
get the factory service manual from
http://www.helminc.com
or a chilton or haynes manual at least
or if you are really cheap (i am) then download a scanned manual.

Get the helms, the haynes is dirt.
My expierence is on D series stuff so I would assume its similar to the b series setup.
If the tranny is out then changing the throw out bearing is pretty straight forward. The input shaft bearing will require you pulling the clutch and flywheel off to pop it out. If you got the tranny out just buy a new clutch kit, it will come with the new bearings.

Thats the pilot bearing in the flywheel. He is refering to the one of the bearings inside the tranny itself. The y1 uses the same bearing as a 90-91 integra. I know because I replaced it on one of my Y1's. J1 ans S1 also has the same bearings. The dicculty of the job depends on how mechanically inclined you are. Helms is the only way to go IMO.
