never heard of it. had 'em for at least 2 years swapped cams about 5 times.

neither of mine have any play at all. not on any cams that i've used.

check this thread out Here.
As you can see, mine protrude the correct amount to be bolted down by the cam gear bolt. See if your cam gears protrudes further than the end of the cam so you know if the bolt its putting any pressure on it.
