H22A Civic Stock Radiator but Mugen Thermostat
Summer is coming again, and once in awhile I like to make the drive out to Palm Springs. However, with over 100 Degree temperatures, I have to make the commute at night because my car will overheat. or come close to it in over 100 Degree weather.
H22A, Currently Run Stock Civic Radiator w/ Stock H22A Thermostat, Stock H22A Switch.
Instead of getting a better radiator (del Sol Radiator), it's cheaper to get the Mugen Thermostar and Mugen Switch.
Don't you guys think that would work adequately?

Get the larger radiator, my buddy had an h22 eg with the same problems, dual core del sol rad fixed it. If i remember correctly it was around 100-120 bucks.

Problem is that I have a custom front crossmember, and the drain plug practically touches it. A thicker radiator will not fit.

What about a dual rail radiator with a thinner fan. I have a H22 and I had the same problem with over heating and room in the bay. I just got a dual rail then I got a FAL thin fan. It was a perfect fit and I don't think it's gotten to the mid mark on the temp gauge since. Just an idea.

I did think about it, but thicker radiator and thinner fan is more expensive tan a Mugen thermostat and switch.
Either way, I just went w/ OEM Thermostat and put it in. I'll just deal with it when I have to drive to Palm Springs in 100+ degree weather.
If anyone knows the best price for a thin fan, then I'd be up for that idea.

I think they are junk. They have never proven to help anything. The problem you are overheating is not because of when your thermostat opens. You probably have a issue with your cooling system. I ran single core radiators on H22a swap in FL all the time with no problems (even datalogged the temps, the temps never went past 210).

My temps don't go past 210 either. I'm almost always 200 degrees or lower. On a hot day, I'm at 202. There's the rare occasions I'm 204 degrees, and that's when the needle goes past half, and I just stop and let my car cool down.
