Default Radiator Ideas (H22--> Eg)

Will the stock EG civic radiator work when I do the h22a swap or will I need a new fan? Would a 300 dollar investment into a del sol vtec radiator be worth it, I only plan to use it as a street car but also let it loose a little bit. just trying to save some bucks.

A Del Sol VTEC is only $115 from http://www.radiators.com

You *can* use the stock one..but it will constantly run [i]slightly[/b] hot, which in the long run isn't good for the engine. The fan will also come on a lot..especially in traffic.

Save the headaches and get a Del Sol VTEC radiator (like i said...$115), and a slim line Hayden fan from pepboys...$70. Works great together.

This is exactly what I am running in my h22 hatch. I got the dual core radiator from http://www.radiators.com for $115 plus shipping and then i got the 12" hayden fan for 69.99 plus tax at pepboys. I just put the new radiator in this week. Before I was running with the stock radiator and hayden fan for about a month. I noticed that my fan was constantly coming on and the car would heat up fairly quickly. It never rose above the half way mark on my temperature gauge and mostly chilled at around the 1/3 area, but I could definately tell it was running "slightly hot." With the new dual core del sol radiator, the fan doesn't come on nearly as much, take longer to heat up (especially in the mornings, which is better than the stock one) and the car actually cools down a bit if i let the car chill for about 15 minutes.

One thing is that the fan is slighly touching the bleeder valve on the clutch slave cylinder now with the dual core radiator in. It is a very tight fit.

as stated above use the del sol radiator , and you can trim awy some of the shroud on the stock one, but go to any auto parts store and pick up a slim fan for like 80 bux, looks much more clean.

GSR radiator will fit, you just need very slim fans. On an EG, you cannot just go an get any slim fan on a dual core radiator from the parts store because on the EG, the H22 slave cylinder is closer to the radiator fan than on an EK H22 setup. If you plan to run just "any" slim fan, then you need to change out your slave cylinder to an Civic/Integra slave cylinder....... it doesn't just bolt right in, you need to drill out one of the mounting holes 1/4" to allow it to bolt onto dual core radiator. If you run a single core radiator, then you don't need to do this.

I know two people with EG/HCP/Dual Core radiator with a Hayden slim fan from Pepboys...it's about 2-3mm away.

You can also position the fan different on the radiator to get more clearance...

At the moment, I'm running the stock radiator.. single core.. and it never heats up above slightly below half. Of course, it's upstate NY, and the average temp has been 1 degree, literally, for the past like 3 weeks. I plan on going GSR radiator in the spring, just to keep my baby cool. I'll haveto fab up some mounts, but hey, I think I can do that, since I just swapped motors.

My buddy, (tinker219 some of you may know) can sell me a GSR radiator for 100 bucks should I do that or would the del sol vtec be better deal?

Del sol vtec would be a little lighter and more compact than the gsr. The gsr is kinda overkill. Go ex automatic or del sol vtec..Both dual core.

yes you can use the stockradiator, I'm using it with no problems whatsoever. The temp needle never goes above halfway and I do drive it hard!!

im a little worried about my radiator setup. i use del sol vtec w/ FAL fan and i actually had to file down the bleeder valve on the clutch slave cylinder to avoid interference with the fan blades. hope i can still bleed my clutch...btwi use hasport mounts...maybe my frame is slightly bent? i dont know
