Hold off for the Edelbrock Performer X.....it'll be out in a few months time.

is it really all about preference? do most intakes yield the same hp output or do people not want to elaborate?

It's a matter you finding the details from a trusted source. It is my opionion that skunk 2 do the job because I've seen it first had on a dyno. Now others will tell you different. becareful there are many new brands coming out so stick with a trusted company. The reasons are how the intake is ported, and this can depend on the range of rpm that you wan't the most power as well. But generally there will be a close range of power that you will gain from every brand, depending on the technology that the company spent to design the manifold. good luck
