An intake will really just make your car noisier.

Unfortunately there isn't anything cheap to do to your car to make it faster as far as being worth it IMO.

Sure, you could do exhaust, intake, etc, but on a dyno you might gain 5-10 whp at your peak, but your often sacrificing low end with most bolt ons.

QFT.

If inexpensive is $1500 then a turbo would be in order.

Just don't rev beyond where power is made and you'll be fine.

Shift responsibly.

bolt-ons are where most people start to mod their car but for me i waited and did some research. I have the same car but with a jdm gsr swap. I searched on the board looking to the advantages and disadvantages of nitrous and found out that if responsible with it your motor wont blow up. I have a 50 shot and all i do is make sure i upgrades spark plugs and change them about every 3 months (depending on how often i spray). In addition i change my oil every 2000 miles. The kit i got used for about 350 and the instal i did myself. Before using the n2o i also got my car dyno tuned and that was about $200.

I'd start with some tuning software. Clean up the "lack luster" b16 map, and you should see and feel the difference. Any mods you do from then on out, you will get the most out of them by being able to tune. IMO

x2 ^^^.

Also get rid of some unnecessary weight. Every 18 lbs. is an extra hp. I heard. But a tune is a great start.

I've got a B16a2 in my 98' coupe. The first things I did was a cold air intake and exhaust. That def. made the car louder, but Vtec screams bloody murder. I'd start there. Maybe get a nice set of cams, and some sort of engine management you can update as you mod.

What are your plans and power goals?

How much money do you have to spend?

If you plan on going turbo, any bolt on is going to be worthless and a waste of time/money. If this is going to be your daily driver, drop a K&N air filter and call it a day.

You heard wrong...

Horsepower=(RPM x torque)/5252

Weight has nothing to do with horsepower. Your car will be faster because it will have less weight to pull, but it won't add any horsepower
