Default Car throwin out some thick black smoke

The other day i went and got a new catalytic converter put on...and ever since i've been blowin out really thick black smoke...i think its only in the high reving areas..maybe vtec and up (oh its a b18c1)...is this a normal thing for when a cat is put on? or is something wrong with my *****?

i've heard it just could be cuz of the cat and its new...

i've heard it could be cuz the cat makes the exhaust temp hotter...so its cleanin out all the carbon **** (i was runnin with a gutted cat for about a year)

but i have no idea...i'd like to get some answeres from ppl on here....

Black smoke = running rich. Do you have some sort of chip? Any mods that could cause this?

i have a short ram...and 2 1/2 inch piping from the cat back into a n1 turbo....thats all

and before i got my cat put in...the a/f guage would stay in "rich" and after the cat....the whole damn gauge lights up...but its brighter in the rich area haha
