Hey guys whatsup! I have a few questions. I just put in a b16a3 motor in my car and its not hitting VTEC. One of the main reasons why i wanted this motor and i cant use it to its full potential. To start I have a 1993 honda civic dx. My buddy and i put in a d16z6 motor about 2 years ago and we had to wire the vtec up to the ecu and I thought that would still work with the p30 ecu from the p28 ecu but i guess i was wrong. I have a vtec light hooked up to the sol. and it doesnt even come on so I dont think any power is going to the sol. Let me know what i should do and if the vtec pin is dif from the p28 to the p30...and also we have 3 codes coming up as well. the cels read 3,10,14. 3 is the map pressure sensor or something not sure what that is and maybe someone can help, 10 is the idle air temperature, and the 14 is for the IACV. We also had to wire this to the ecu when we did the d16 swap so is that also dif between the two ecu's?

 

check the oil?

 

I checked the oil still full...any other suggestions..im going to check out the ecu..

VTEC wont engage when you are throwing CEL's.

Fix you CEL's and you will then have M@DD FVKC1nG vT@k.

Problem solved.

i dont know abot that one! my gsr through a code 41 for o2 sensor and i still had vtec...but i dunno...my car is being gay right now..im throwing code 3 and 9 and i dont have vtec right now either...oh and its a 92 cx with jdm 1st gen b16a... i think i read that having a map sensor code will not allow vtec... am i right??

 

When your ECU throws codes, it goes into LIMP mode. VTEC will not work. Fix your CELs, VTEC will come back.

what harnes are you usint when i put my b16 in to my dx i used the dx harnes and added wiers for vtec,works great..
