Default Wiring VTEC today...quick question

do auto part stores carry those little copper pin connectors to hold the wire into the ecu plug? the open spots without wires don't have those copper pieces. thanks.

thanks looks like i'm gonna have to wait and find a pick-n-pull because i don't have an old harness.

all i need is one large ecu pin and one small and it'd take me 10min but i can't find any. called Kragen and the local honda dealership with no luck. (Add Autozone and Pep Boys to that list)

hey i ghetto rigged mine. i just took the wire and stuck it in the harness. im pretty sure vtec is working but then every once in a while ill get a check engine light either because of the vtec pressure switch or the vtec solenoid wires came loose or whatnot.

that's what i'm afraid of...i was sure if i could just jam the damn wire into the plug and it'd hold.

is that copper pin required or is it just to hold it in place? is there an alternative to keeping the wire stable in the plug?

you need the pin. do it the right way the first time and be done with it.

there is already a thread stickied up top on how to take an ecu plug apart to get the pins. you can either do it that way and push it out, or just hit with a hammer on the ground and break the plastic plug. i've got enough ecu pins then i know what to do with.

just go to the local pick-n-pull bring you some snips cuts the wires on the plugs and there you go. i cut the harness with enough wire on the pin to soder the new wire to for vtec. much easier then having to remove the pin and put it on your new wire.

hope that helps and good luck.

the pin is to grab or hold the metal piece on the ecu (dont know what its called). The harness is empty where the pin should be.
