Mazda rev it up 2k5? is it gonna happen?
or did they axe it? i know this ain't no mazda forum, but i know almost everyone here attends.. i keep checking back and it's still "in for a scheduled pit stop"..
is mazda going to do an event this year? i'm sad i didn't go the first year.. i want to go again, though!! maybe with the new MX-5's? that'd be cool..

I love Rev It Ups minus the overprice concessions. I have a hard time thinking they'd cancel it, but who knows, corporate and money saving costs own all.

From what I saw it was an easy way for Mazda to increase sales of their new 6 and 3. Now that Mazda doesn't have a new car rolling off the lines (When's the new Miata supposed to come out?) I'd be suprised if they'll have it again this year.
The fact that the new MX5 isn't off the lines yet may be why they would take a pass on it. Demand will be plenty high for now so that waiting a year wouldn't kill them. Plus they don't have to beat on cars that could be sold at a premium b/c they aren't out yet. Maybe if they did it later in the year they could run the 3's again and have the new Miata as a tester.
I think the concept worked though. I took a look at a 6 when shopping for an appliance for the fiance even though I didn't think it would be in real competition. I still want a 3 as my own appliance. I'm sure I wouldn't be so hot on that car had I not been able to play with one a bit.

hey, it worked for me, too..
so did test-driving the MPV. aside from the huge steering ratio, it was fun to drive around there "test track" especially when no one was looking.. hehehee..

That's what I was thinking. I wasn't really expecting one anytime soon. What's Mazda coming out with next year that they'll be promoting?
On a side note, I loved playing with the cars (especially the 3's) and have been recommending them to everyone. I'd buy myself a 3 if I needed to replace my Civic; so I'm sure they're seeing a positive return from the events.

Don't mean to thread hijack but since we are talking about Mazdas, what do you all think about the RX-8. I know this has been beaten to death in GDD, but I'd like to hear it from people who have a good reference for "spirited driving." KC, saw you had one, wanted to know what you think about it. I am looking for something new that I will only mod minimally (i.e. Exhaust and maybe springs and chassis reinforcement). Rx-8 was suggested. I like the fact that its not something you see everyday. Would like to compete with it in SCCA Stock Solo comp.
For the RX-8 I know the general complaint is not enough power, but I drove one at MRIU last year and love the way it handled. The outside has really grown on me, but the interior looks like it was designed by someone with ADD. I wouldn't mind owning one though.
Thanks!
