Its to Bad they don't make very many after market parts for our 2nd Gen Cars... I mean they do have a potential at makin a killer car from a carb engine...Sure Fuel Injection is nice and the DOHC and VTEC... but same amount of power can be pulled with a bit of motor tuning and some carb work.... Be nice if honda would make some of these parts available for us,, instead we have to pull parts from here and there to make fit on our cars to achieve the performance gain wanted.. Just my $.02... what kinds of mods have you done to your motors to pull max power???

good luck finding a header, but you may get lucky. get a custom exhaust done, upgrade your carburetors, or port and polish them, bore and resleave your engine to be a 2.0 (not too sure about that one, but it is a good idea to look into), get higher compression pistons, a different fuel pump to get more fuel to the carbs, a custom intake, performance plugs and wires, advance the timing by a few degrees to get a higher top end power instead of all low end, remove the a/c and all it's components, shave the head down to get higher compression, and then maybe you will have 120 whp, if you are lucky. your first efforts should be on the suspension so you can attempt to outhandle other cars cause you have a lot of work to do to out power them.

good luck.

A header for an 86 Accord will fit the head. You'll need some modifications where the pipe passes under the front cross member.

Try Pacesetter, they used to make one. Its the only option I know of, other than having one built.

actually the si model header will fit because the head is the exact same!!! try pace setter or dc sports if you wanna pay out the @$$ i found mine in a junk yard for 50 bucks it is a racing only 4-1 whit one of the sweetest merge collecters i have seen. lots of people made a header for this car i know about all of them go check my profile on honda prelude.com 2nd gen dtmshogun........

the si prelude model for that gen is a 2.0 fuel injected with four ports coming out of the head. the dx model is a 1.8 with only three ports coming out of the head. at least, that is what it looks like on mine. i haven't taken the manifold off, but there are only two normal sized ports and a large port in the center. how can that be the same?

It is the same.... the engines have the same head design. They call it a Tri-Port or Syamesse Port. So yes the 2.0 Si header will Fit. Hope this helps.

the second gen prelude was from 1983-1987which makes your 1989 prelude a 3rd gen and the heads are not the same from gen to gen....hope this clears things up.
