I'll give it a go later tonight or tomorrow, just got to go buy the foil.

I've done .020, so hey, .005 should be a snap

Oh, and teach yourself, I did. Just pick up some scrap and the torch and make it hot.

One of the people I went to school with used to weld razor blades together...tin foil might be pushing it

fill it with gas and just start using it. it will all make sense once you put it into practice. tig scared the crap out of me for about 1 min until i pushed the pedel down and formed my first puddle.

My TIG doesn't go low enough. I just blast though on the smallest setting and practically no pedal.

There is special welding machines for that kind of thing.Like mold repair and aircraft parts. The highest amps is 75 and goes down to .5 amps. And you have to use .40 or .60 tungsten. The ,40 is so small that you can't sharpen it.There is this
stuff that you dip the tip in when it is hot and that sharpens it.And when you start ,start on another piece of metal to get the tungsten hot then move over to
your work and it starts lower.

I think there might be some zeros missing, since I've never seen a half-inch tungsten.

They don't weld allum.foil together and they haven't for a long *** time. There is a machine that fuses it together. And when they did weld it together it was about .015 to .020 thick and they backed it up with a big *** heat sink.

And I will bet you a million dollars you can't solder it .Because you can not solder allum. But you can try if you want. Some times this Text **** sucks.Because
you can't tell if I'm being a smart *** or not.Well I'm not. LOL . See

Well boys and girls, after much error, I successfully tackled the foil for exactly one quarter of an inch.

I did cheat...slightly. I consider it bending the rules. I had to fold it. I tried it unfolded at first, and even the slightest arc would splatter a hole the size of a dime.

Picture (of very poor quality) can be found here -

Yeah, like I said, the picture really sucks. It's there though, albeit small.
