Default knock sensor on vtec

-ok i searched this topic and noone seems to have this problem.
-background my car was originally 94 ls automatic. i swapped to a 99 gsr. i got a p72 ecu which i wired the solenoids and the knock already into my ecu .. A4,D6,D3
-i had a p28 chipped and there was no code with that one
- the p72 throws a check engine only when the vtec hits and code stays on till i turn off the car. the code will clear until vtec hits and process repeats itself
- dtc 23 meaning knock sensor is the only code i get ... sooo anyone?

find the knock sensor make sure its hooked up the vtec will not work untill the knock sensor is hooked. check out hondaswap.com look in the reference guide to were the wire is located on the ecu. if its not there then u need to run a wire to the knock sensor from the ecu. your vtec will then work. make sure you have a good connection at the ecu to the pin and make sure you have your knock hooked up right.

I didnt know that was possible. The knock sensor disables the vtec if it is not working correct.did you test your knock sensor and what do you mean you tested it with a light? in order to check the knock sensor you need to remove it and measure the resistance while tapping it on metal it should spike up to about .5-1.5 volts. explain your light method to me.

Chip the ECU, run the P72 base map and click the "disable knock sensor" option.

when i checked the knock i probed the ecu with a test light ... the knock sensor is d3 on my ecu.so i probed d3 and when for a test drive... the light was intermittent so i assumed that my ecu was reading it. but i dont have a manual and i didnt know the correct procedure for checking the knock.... ill go disable it and check for spike and get back to ya
