airbag SRS testing
i'm about to install an aftermarket steering wheel on my SRS equipped ride. i know that in order for me not to throw the SRS light, i need to put a load resistor across the airbag connector harness.
for testing, i just need to know if it is safe to put a multimeter across the connector of the airbag itself to measure its resistance. i don't want it going off in my hands if i'm not supposed to do that.
or you can just tell me the resistor value i should be using. i've read 3ohms to 2.5ohms to 4ohms. which one is it? some guy even used a potentiometer (variable resistor) to vary the load until the SRS light went out.
thanks in advance.
