Default Dead Battery? Maybe Altenator?? Any help greatly appreciated!!

Ok heres the deal, I replaced my battery last december (about 4-5 months ago) my teg was running fine until yesterday. I go out to where I parked it and I tried to start the car and all that I get is a click. All of the lights on the dash light up and the beeping noise, but my car did not want to turn over at ALL.

So I got my girlfriend to come and jump me, car started right up with no problem. I ran it for 5 mins and drove over to her place. After I got there I turned the car off and then I tried starting it. It started just fine. So i figured every thing was ok, maybe I left something on like a interior light or something. ....

This morning I go to start my car and the same thing.....grrr..... wont start. The car has about 92,000 miles on it, Im pretty sure its not the battery, could it be the altenator? Is there anything I overlooked? A fuse? Im not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might have an electrical leak meaning a power wire might accidentally grounded (touching the chassis. That is exactly what happened to mine. I have one of these small 24 gauge power wire (probably for some lights or something) that was clamped under the tower bar thus breaking the insulation and the wire is touching the chassis. My battery dies in a day or two.

alright ur best bet is to get an amp/volt meter(forgot exact name), and check the output on ur car.

there are 2 ways u can do that, buy ur own or go to ur local autozone they do it for free. have them check the battery power. which should be an esimated 12 V, then have them check the battery after u have started the car and also check the output. all together it should read around 14 V. if u dont have about a 2 V difference in ur alternator + battery and battery, u may have a problem with the alternator. or it maybe any type of output connector, like alternator belt which is loose, cracking etc. or maybe a connector.

umm jsut correct me if im wrong, i think most of it is correct.

aight so I totally cleaned my terminals tested the battery and got a reading of 10.48v . Not good enough. So I jump started my car and let it run for 15 minutes, plenty of time for the alternator to charge the battery to a decent state. The weird thing is that my voltometer wouldnt give me a reading while the car was running. I really dont know why. So anyways I measured the battery after letting the car run for 15mins, and the battery read 10.51v . I beleive it is my 4 month old WAL-MART battery. The reason why I am ruling out my alternator is because I drove my car for about 45 minutes last NIGHT with everything electrical running. Luckily walmart gave me a 72 month warranty on the battery, so im going to take it back and exchange it.

Any insight appreciated.

turns out it was the battery. Went to walmart exchanged it for a new one, installed it and everything seems fine now. I got the voltometer to read 12.8v off of the battery and 14.4v while the car was running.
