so i have a 1995 civic dx with a 1995 gsr motor in it. It makes a winding noise when the car is started. Then it ended up killing my battery. So i ended up getting the battery fully charged again. Same thing happened again the car was low on the battery. SO i think its the alternator i bought one and installed it in, But the same deal the battery got low and it wont start again. I also have a new battery i put in samething happened again. My key ignition is also kinda messed up for some reason i can put my key in the ignition and start it but be able to turn it to the 3rd click which would be to start the car. I can still pull my key out when it is in this postion and it will still be running with out the key in it. Also when my car is off and the key is out and everything is off i can for some reason still be able to turn my heat on. I bought the car off some kid and didnt realize any of this until then next day. The kid wont pick up his phone. Can someone help me and shade some light on me as to what the problem with my car might be please ??? thank you

sounds like the wiring was hacked up which would be y the battery keeps draining and why the heat stays on with no key, either trace the wiring for the heat and fix the issue or get a new harness. as far as the ignition cylinder it either can be rebuilt or replaced, one of my older civics did that...you can prob use any honda key to start it too

yea so i guess the dude i bought it from wired everything all messed up. So i have to ake all the wiring that i didnt need that was hooked up out. Then i looked for the fuses and under my engine bay to the left on the passager side there was a wire hooked up like a fuse. I took it out and my car didnt do the whole thing where it turns on the heat with no key inside the ignition. Im still waiting to see if this was the main problem draining my battery....hope fully it is. If anyone else can help me figure out what the heck is wrong with this car please let me know. Thanks a lot by the way for helping.

Have u check your alternator fuse?
