Default gude head package

Hi guys, I was wondering what your opinions of the gude b16 head package are. I see it is only 1600 dollars and it suposedly adds a dyno proven 40-65 horsepower. I also ssee that you get an ecu with it. Now one of my questions is if that is adaquate for tuning? any input would be great

I would advise you to stay away. Bogus claims and poor quality work

Im not going to comment on their work, but come on 40-65hp gains? Can we be more realistic please.

Gude is nothing but ****.... junk that dont work or is all fucked up..

do it right the first time. Portflow, rocket, exospeed, R&D dyno, Jerry built, Import builders.. are all some of great places to go for headwork.

Your most likely right. But 40-65hp? Thats a bogus long shot claim and everyone knows it. Why not be realistic and claim a 15-25hp bump depending on the application. I'm glad your happy with your head, thats a good thing and your right, its not likely "complete ****". I would just feel uneasy trusting someone with my head who makes a false claim from the get go. Everyones opinions are different and im glad your experience with Gude worked in your favor.

gude has the worst reputation for consistancy in performance, customer care, and quality out there.

Gude could **** up a wet dream. run. Can you say lopsided head with undocumented amount of milling....yuk. the few who have called crying with a package like this have had a hard time.

damn I to thought Gude was a pretty reputable company but I guess I was wrong. I just hope that everyone who is knocking on them is speaking from experience and not just jumping on the bandwagon. I picked up a civic hatch that had a built gude head on it, and I have not encountered any problems yet.

I know my valves need adjusting, but I can say that it does not feel like no 60hp gain or I don't even think 40 maybe 40 at the crank which is like 20 at the wheels or so.

I did notice one thing though . . . . . when Vtec Engages on my D16z6 it feels like I loose all power like something is restricting, or like my turbo just kills out, but hopefully it turns out to be timing and valve adjusting related.

Didn't Gude have the first N/A single cam into the 11's. I don't remember if it was them or someone else.

We installed a Gude package on a D16Z6 and it did make the suggested numbers> Base was 112 whp, and after the install we got 136whp. We eventuallt used a Greddy Turbo kit and pulled 205whp out of the system before the client got boost hungry and turned the dial up to 10 on 91...lol...But that was our experience with them.

if they made crap products 100% of the time, the company wouldnt exist. Just as there were Yugos that help up to 200+K miles, there are good jobs by Gude. The question is though, with better companies out there why would you take the chance given their past performance as a whole?
