gude stage 3 head???
My friend has a "gude stage 3" head package on a d15b JDM 1.5. The head comes with ported intake manifold, ported head, stage 3 cam, complete valvetrain and a TB.
Any one have experience with this setup? What gains can be expected?

Re: gude stage 3 head??? (hybrid honda)
I looked at them a long time ago..but they were damn pricey...I bought a turbo setup with the money instead.
EDIT: If your friend has it already shoot me some insight on it. Any dyno numbers or anything?

The head is being installed as we speak, he says he is gonna smoke me but we'll find out soon enough.

They're customer service was pretty crappy back when I was trying to get my stuff (almost 2 years ago). I really would like to see how it works though. PM me if you don't want to post it up in here, as I truly am interested!

Re: gude stage 3 head??? (IDriveAHonda)
I'll be sure to give you guys a head up when the car gets out of the shop. He got a killer deal and just wants to know if anybody has bought the head for their single cam and what power they gainer from the head package.
The only problem I can see is that he is going to use his stock DX tranny until he can find an Si tranny.

Yeah and it was like 1300 bucks if I remeber correctly. I could and did do a turbo setup instead.

One of our friends had the head on his z6 before my good friend bought it for $300. The head on the z6 (old friends car) ripped. He said he smoked Type S RSX's all the time. But we'll see what happens, I personally have no experience with single cams in general so I couldn't give my friend any insight.
We have a little bet going on if he can take me or not.
My setup is an EF hatch with a b16/J1 tranny, act 8.8 lb flywheel, a JDM 4 to 1 header, test pipe and a 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust.
My friend has a 93 DX with the d15 with the "gude stage 3 head package" with a dc header, fpr, but he has a stock DX tranny and the stock exhaust too.
We'll find out in April who's car is faster when the track opens

They are low 15 sec cars that run 93 or so in the quarter. We'll find out soon enough about the power of the single, or so he keeps saying.

yea you probably will, but its probably not gonna be by much. He would definantely smoke a 99-00 si though. Your car is a little bit lighter than his though and i'm sure with your tranny's gearing you will pull on him a little.

Haven't heard anything about them in a while...Gude has been around doing SOHC for quite a while. But I have heard some bad things about them as well over the years. I think thier cams are regrinds and wear out or something??

My car is right around 150 WHP and weighs around 2100 lbs.
His has ???? WHP with the head package, and weighs 2275 lbs.
Even if he does keep up with me now, it will be a different story after my ITR cams are installed along with my VAFC.

Re: gude stage 3 head??? (hybrid honda)
All right here is the update.
My friend with the stage 3 gude head package got his car back from the shop last night. We went out to have a little fun and to see what the d15b could do.
Well we went out on the highway and did a few highway pulls. From a rolling 65 to 90 I put almost 3 cars on him. We tried it agian, and I even gave him the jump and I reeled him in almost immediately and put 2 or 3 cars on him from 50 to 75 ish.
He claims it is not running right and needs to be tuned but thats the story the situation as it stands now.
I wanted to race from a stop to 100 but I wanted to take it easy on him until he gets his car running right, whatever might be slowing it down.

Re: gude stage 3 head??? (hybrid honda)
Lot of people talke bad about Gude, just as people put down other companys because of what they heard from someone. I've had some experience with their product. Their SOHC and LS heads and cams make good power, but your friend is going to need an EX tranny, as well as an ECU upgrade if he doesn't have one already, and of course tuning to dial it all in. And yes, their cams are regrinds.

Gude = ****
Enough said.
If you want me to elaborate I'll do so later, but i've talked to old Billy gude on the phone and he sure is an *******.
