Ok first. Whent eh car starts it idles fine for about 20 seconds or so. It will then shoot up to a 2,000 rpm idle and sometimes go as high as 2,500-3,000. After about a minute of this it will just bounce up and down between 1k and 2k but sometimes as high as 3k. Also a few times it will basically drive itself like the the throttle cable is stuck yet it isn't. At that point if I put it in neutral or just push the clutch all the way in the revs will shoot up to like 4k (rare but has happenbed a few times). So uhhh...anyone got any ideas? I cleaned the IACV out once and it actually idled perfect for a day then came back so I am not sure if that is exactly the problem. Other idea I had about the throttle feeling stuck was the TPS sensor.

 

Your TPS is bad. Common problem. Clean out your IACV as well.

 

Any idea how much a tps cost? Also how come a faulty tps wouldn't throw a code?

 

all i know is...that damn thing they rivited to the throttle body.....

if you wanna test you TPS...run the car and take the thing off if it continue's clearly its not workin..

or...check for power to it...
