ok.....this is driving me CRAZY so any help is appreciated. about two weeks ago my CEL popped up and the idle was up around 2k. i had it diagnosed at advance and it came up with code p0505 "idle air malfunction" after doing a quick check for vaccum leaks, i decided the IACV was the most reasonable option. i took it out and cleaned it with choke/carb cleaner and an old toothbrush. i put it back on, no luck. so i didn't really feel like spendng 150 on a new one so i got a new-to-me one that was from an LS. same deal fits perfect. only difference is a small metal surronding on the outbound side of the iacv. i put it on and had the CEL reset and reset the odometer. drive fine for almost 200miles exactly and then popped up again but this time even though the idle was still high, the throttle response is ROUGH. when i push the gas and open the throttle body, the entire car lurches and the same when i let off. now, when the throttle is just barely open (1800rpm) it bounces up and down by about 200rpm either way. WHAT IS GOING ON!

try the iac in the air tube it might be going bad.

you mean the intake air temp sensor? hadn't thought about that but would that make all of those things happen?
