Default JDM D15B and USDM D15B2 Help Please!!!!

Im not terribly familiar with SOHC motors. So I was wondering if the two motors, JDM D15b and USDM D15b2 took the same tune up parts. Is it going to be pretty much the same thing as a JDM B16a and the USDM B16A2? Its a 30K motor (yeah right) for my friends 90 Civic DX 4 Dr. If you know the answer please help. If you are unsure do not respond. Thank you for your help!

D15b is a sohc VTEC engine while the stock dpfi sohc non-VTEC engine in the 88-91 civic/crx dx/lx. As far as tuneup parts what parts in particular?

As far as tune ups, most parts you need for the block are from the civic VX ('92-'95) and most parts for the head are for a d16z6 ('92-'95 as well).

plugs
wires
v.c. gasket set
water pump
timing belt
idler pulley
Intake Man Gasket
Exhaust Man Gasket
cap
rotor
oil pan gasket
PCV

Also, I was told that the Intake manifold was the same and the old one (usdm) would bolt right up to the JDM motor. Is this correct?

Bump...

Plus I will be doing the swap on a Sunday, so no dealers will be open.

The intake manifold didn't come with the engine and the guy told me that the one on the car (D15B2) would work with the D15B. Am I going to be able to just drop this D15B motor in to the 90 DX and go, or will there be a lot of other things that will come up? We thought that, per the motor sales company, it was a straight swap.

The D15b2 which is in the car is set up stock with the 2 injectors. The D15B didnt come with the IM. Its an adults car that just wants it to run and pass visual for cali smog. This motor was purchased because it was really cheap ($200), not because of performance. Im doing this as a favor to him, and just need to get the facts ASAP. I searched a little but all I found was for performance gains, dont want any of that. Just want the least expensive way so he can have his car back in running condition.

In addition to the above ?'s.... will the D15B2 IM work with the D15B?

All of the exterior parts off the old motor will bolt right on not sure about the internals though.I ran one of those motors for a few years in my 91 hatch with dpfi on it and never had a problem with smog.

Just saying it again. I dont want any performance gains. Just to get this car up and running with the JDM NON VTEC D15B.

non vtec d15b will be EXACTLY the same as a d15b2. the problem with jdm is that they dont put a number after the letter in the engine code so you cant identify motors without looking at em. if the sparkplugs are on the back of the head (near the IM) then its the same as a d15b2

The spark plugs are on the same place on both motors, right on top of the VC on the IM side of the motor. So it should be a direct swap? Im still curious about the tune up parts I listed above. Someone else tried to help me with that, but I dont know if they were for the VTEC or Non VTEC version. Any ideas?

When I still had mine in my car I just asked for 91 1.5 hatch parts and never had a problem.

If the block you are swapping says d15b, Its a vtec sohc. Im pretty sure the only non-vtec sohc that came out of japan was the zc, and it will just say zc right on the block.

Maybe im wrong.

Thanks . I used to work in a Honda Parts dept, so I called a friend and had him order the parts for 4 different years and models of cars. He said I could return what I don't use. I think I should be set.

you're wrong. there is a jdb d15b which is identicle to the d15b2. there is also a sohc vtec d15b... and theres even a vtec-e d15b.
