Default instead of removing AC...

say, instead of removing the AC, would i still free up the horsepower if i just turned off my AC compressor via the 'A/C' button on the air vents? if not, why not? just curious!

removing the AC is not to free up horsepower, it is to free up weight

Isn't there a clutch on the AC? So when its off, its just like a dummy pulley?

And I think its somewhere around 100ish lbs.

Yes, when the AC is not on...the pulley just spins. When you turn on the AC the clutch engages.

Pulling the AC will not yield any noticeable gains. It will just make you get tired of the car faster.

the whole ac system weighs in at 32 lbs....not 100....

the pulley robs realistically no horsepower when the clutch is disengaged.....

leave ur AC alone... youll regret it ahead... In the long summer days, or when you decide its time to move on... Yes, what they said is correct.

The AC compressor has a clutch that allows it to engage and disengage.. The pulley spins freely as long as the clutch is disengaged and does nothing. When engaged, it does have a slight power robbing property that allows ur AC system to function...
