AC pulley sticks out too far ? NEW ac comprsor belt wont line up !
hey guys i tried searching the site for this but could find to much on it. i have a 95 coupe dx 2 door with a d15 motor in it . well i got it from a guy who decided he wanted to take ac compressors clutch out so ac compressor pulley spins freely and he don't have to take all ac lines out.
well i finally got around to wanting the ac fixed so i found a buddy who has EXACT same car as me except its a hatch . he gave me his PERFECT ac compressor nothing wrong **** was cold as hell b4 he took it out . so i took car to ac shop to have them vacuum the lines and refill it with new freon, i figured they might as well put compressor on too . i called them two days later and they said ac compressor bolts up and everything but the belt wont line up to the compressor . they said if you are standing in front of car looking at it that pulley looks to be to far to the right.
so idk what the heck these guys are doing bc this compressor came out of a engine bay that is exactly the same as mine and same motor as well lol . is there a reason why it could be off like that keeping them from putting it on right ????
thnxx for any reply's

are you sure its the same motor?
what was your engine code and his engine code?
are the other belts on the correct pulleys?

the engines were both d15 y8 ......as far as the belts on correct pulleys ? i would assume yes it has no power steering just ac compressor....so its just a belt for alternator and a belt for ac compressor. is there a adjustable spot to move the compressor to the left so the belt will line up ?

Also, do they make different compressors for your year? I know my 91 has 2 different pumps they used.. and the belt was different for each.

nah i kno for a fact both motors are d15's
so no adjusting the compressor ? how many diff brackets do they have ? i really want this ac to work and this belt issue is only thing holding ac guys back. they said they would look at it agian i just figured i would ask here to see if i could give them some extra info to make this thing work .
is there anything they guy putting it on could have done by accident to do this ?

Sounds like your DX motor came with a crank pulley designed for 2 belts - power steering and alternator. If the PS was removed or never installed, it will appear that the only spot for the AC belt is an inch over too far. You need to get a crank pulley that uses 3 belts, most D16's have them. Try for a 95 or older, from a D16z6/etc.
BTW have fun taking the crank pulley bolt out. DO NOT use an impact wrench unless you want to destroy your bearings - they make a tool for it, and there's also a DIY on for the tool.

i had to take off my compressor pulley and clutch a few months ago.. there are a few C-clips and what not ... tell the a/c shop to take off the pulley and clutch and make sure its on there properly.. if not get another a/c compressor
