Also check the brake light switch. If you look up under the dash at the brake pedal, you will see the switch is mounted so that the breake pedal arm opens/closes the switch when the pedal is moved. If you have cruise control you might have 2 of these switchrs. If the switch is no longer touching the arm when the pedal is at rest it needs to be adjusted.

my girls car has almost the same prob, the thing is the 3rd brake light works when you step on the brake, but the two main brake lights don't. Every other light setting works, driving lives, head lights, turn signal, and 3rd brake light. I checked all the fuses, changed the bulbs; I've also reset the ecu, but that didnt do anything. I've also checked the switch on the pedal and it seems to work fine (3rd brake light does work). I've also switch around the lighting/horn relays and that didn't really do anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Run the wire from the 3rd light to the other 2 as a work around for saftey until you get it?

in the trunk there is a module that controls the brake lights. its on the drivers side pull the trunk carpet off to reveal the back off the taillights. under the driver side tailight there is a little black box with a harness connected, take off the module and pry it open. there should be two metal things that look like a paper clip. check tose and see if there burnt. i burnt mine and only my 3rd light will come on. i opened the module up and sanded the two paper clip looking things and it worked fine. if u cant sand them take them off and get 2 paper clips and solder them on. and you got urself a new module. SRRY IM NOT THAT GOOD AT INSTRUCTIONS any questions just ask
