I wanted to make something that will let everyone know what to check when there is a ticking/clicking noise coming from there motor in a order of the most common problem. Only thing is i dont know lol and i wanted to find out for my self so if anyone hase some information post up the things you would check in order of most common problem. I hope this will end all the "Clicking/tapping/ticking in my motor" threds so every one help out and make a list so we can help clean up the honda-tech.com boards. Thanks

 

So your motor is ticking and you want to know what to check?

Valve lash would be my first choice; adjust your valves if they haven't been done before. It's a fairly easy DIY.

Stethascopes are pretty cheap. Get the motor to knock/tap while idling and listen around to where it is coming from.

 

Yup...valves, then check for the transmission bearings by pressing the clutch in at idle and seeing if it disappears, then start worrying about your bottom end
