Should I be worried or am I just paranoid? ***VID Included***
Hey guys,
Motor had been rebuilt about 8000 miles ago. The only thing upgraded to my knowledge was APR headstuds and rod bolts. Recently there has been some noise coming from the engine that sounds like piston slap. It quiets down after it warms up but is still there. Figured i would let you hear it and maybe get some suggestions. In the video you will hear it when the motor comes down from the rev and its back to idle. Any help is appreciated. Car is tuned to 10psi.

You could try an check the valve adjustment clearances first and if they are off go from there. If it only just recently started happening then something is probably not right.

If your oil pressure hasn't changed (and is fine), and was rebuilt with forged slugs, I'd check the lifters. However if you used cast pistons, I'd check the compression and leak down to see if you cracked something. Piston slap won't develop over 8k miles on a rather mild motor like yours. I doubt it's piston related if you're not getting any noticable blue/white smoke.
One problem a few people have with upgrade rod bolts is the clearances aren't properly checked, and affects bearing wear. It doesn't sound like rod knock, but it's also compressed audio. I've also seen instances of bent rods smacking the edge of the sleeve, and that can make a big racket.
Depending on the turbo, cam, and other parts, it could be any of the above. In most cases with stock pistons/rods, they're the biggest question mark.
