Check Engine Light Comes On!
Tonight, and I decided to do a nice pull on the freeway. Well about 4 seconds in fourth gear right at about 105mph, My car throws a CEL and the car just stops pulling, the car doesnt die, but it returns back to idle. I look down and temperature gauge is normal, no oil/battery/dummy lights. Car is still running, I put it in fifth and the car drives just like normal.
Well I get off the freeway and do a first gear pull. Runs fine until I hit 5500, Where VTEC is supposed to engage, and it hits a rev limiter. So I pull over and pull the battery. The CEL goes away.
Does anyone know what CEL code will let you rev the car until VTEC is supposed to engage and will go away if you reset the ECU.
THe car is OBDIIa. 96 with 37k on the motor (Blew the old one and replace it with a low mileage replacement)
The scared the hell out of me because I though the motor blew up when it happened.
Setup is as follows.
98 d16y8 (w/ roughly 37-38k on the motor)
Greddy 15g/ intercooled, 10 psi
(If anything is required Ill put it up)
Thanks in advance,
Jon
And because everyone likes pics, here is my motor shot, please no flaming!

i think its your speed governer, you'll need to remove it from your ecu, most main thing about obdII's ecu, a certain mph that you cant pass up by
The speed governor wont throw a check engine....I have done it before...
120 mph is 96+ speed cut...the CEL happens at about 110...

The CEL you "had" could be dealing with too much fuel being dumped. Of course, it will clear once you turn you car off. By the way, what type of engine management (if any) are you running and what is the size of your injectors?
Wouldnt really consider it management but Im running the Hack with 450's until the summer comes when I plan to upgrade to stand alone of some sort...not sure what Im gonna get..... I have been running the hack for sometime now with no problems and I have never got this code before....I was able to hit the speed governor no problem....not that I do it all the time plz dont flame me on this....
IM not sure how to pull the code on an OBDII ecu, I thought you had to take it to a dealership. or something.
Any help on pulling the code would be excellent!

There is a connector under the right side of the dash. You just jump it with a paperclip. Then look at the dash and count the amount of blinks.

Yea iam guessing to rich aswell. My car threw that code with a greddy kit and the black box for tuning. Today it threw it again with the AFC hack cause i was only at 5psi instead of what iam tuned for at 8-9psi. CEL went right away when i turned off car and started it up again. If you are running 5psi with the AFC hack...turn up the boost alittle to gets things alittle leaner.
Does the paper clip thing work on 96+Cars...according to this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=978933 it doesnt

I am running 10 psi.....Should I lean out the mixture to prevent rich conditions...I dont want to wash my cylinder walss from to much fuel!
