Sure, I did and didn't even know it until I pulled the head and the #2 piston was steam cleaned.

I didn't even have coolant in the oil.

Compression tested at 170-175 all the way across, the motor had several bearings that were in very poor shape, 3 pistons with the top ring land broken, and a blown head gasket between #2 & #3 cylinders.

more than likely it is a bad head gasket.

My car is doing the same thing... my overflow tank fills up but my car doesn't over heat...

I'm going to have to replace the headgasket soon

Leaking between sleeves and block. This won't show any change in compression or leakdown.

I just pulled my head to replace the headgasket. Compression and leakdown test were fine.

Question: My overflow tank is filling up about an inch every day I drive my car (just pour it back into the radiator)... my car has never overheated...

This is obviously a symptom of a head gasket issue...

? How long do I have before there is a real problem? Or, is the over flow tank filling up enough of a reason to change the head gasket?

Should I wait until my car over heats? Or, should I pick up a new HG, some ARPs, and install them ASAP?

**Sorry for hijacking the thread. I just don't want to start yet another SOHC head gasket thread with a simple question **

Sounds like when you boost the head is lifting and causing the problem. Maybe from stretching head bolts or the block deck itself. Do a leak down test if it passes then pull the head and replace to head studs and check the block deck with a straightedge.

pull the head off today. cylinder number 1 is full of water the rest seem dry. would that be cause by blown headgasket

yes check the deck w/ a straigtedge lay it across and diagonal if you can slide .002 or bigger of a feeler guage under the straightedge, then it needs to be decked, otherwise if its fine then get headstuds. goodluck

Ouch. Make sure your cylinder 1 sleeve is not cracked. Hopefully you did not go WOT while you had that problem.

To be honest with you though, I think you've done some damage, especially if you were driving around like that for a while. You must have a lot of coolant in your oil too.

Don't keep driving with a bad headgasket... Sometimes the oil might be okay, but coolant must be entering the engine during combustions and can really mess up the rings.

Plus what's the point of driving the car if you cannot even rev it? A developing bacd headgasket is like a timebomb and it would suck if a huge air pocket gets inside the cylinder head while doing a 4th gear pull Not good at all.

After all this time, I only trust OEM Honda headgaskets

i have only driven the car for about 5 miles. I never rev it past 3,000 sense my car not tune yet. from visual inspection the sleeves look good.

Only problem with this is that you need a damn good straightedge. I tried checking mine with a straight edge when I changed the headgasket this past weekend and I kept getting inconsistent readings. I blamed this on the straight edge.
