Default 85mm 12:1 compression + ITB's, what size injectors?

Just FedEx'd my block yesterday, so I gotta get the rest of my parts together for my project.

Specs are 12:1 CP's, 85mm x 87.2mm, 'Busa ITB's, Crome chipped P72, stock R head/cams.

The Hayabusa injectors are rated at 270cc (~42psi), and I am not sure if they can fuel my setup. My other options are OBD2 Prelude injectors (345cc) and S2000 injectors (390cc @ ~42psi). Or I can always go with some 310 RC's.

Opinions?

I don't have the answer for you....

but maybe this link will help you find what you need...

http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm

I have also believe that using Saturated injectors would be best because they respond faster than peak and hold units....giving you better idle etc.

Good luck!

rc 440's since you put money into your block i would go with hondata it's cheap and will work real good with your set up.

Crome tunes ITB's better than Hondata, Crome uses TPS scaling for tuning instead of MAP, which if you've ever tuned ITB's, you'd know that tuning with the MAP sensor is extremely time consuming.

If I were doing it, I'd be using 370's or 390's at the most. But I guess there's no harm is erring on the safe side.

I was thinking the S2000 injectors would suffice. Injectors aren't that spendy, so I can always upgrade if the S2k's don't cut it.

440cc injectors usually gets me 240-250whp on a dynojet with inj duty max around the 80% range and 50psi fuel pressure.

what chassis and are you running resistor box ? if so preludes are good enough for you, otherwise the s2000 are good too.

Greg,

I havn't purchased any resistor box yet. I was going to try and find the S2000 resistor box if I can source the injectors from a junked S2k at a junkyard.

The Prelude box would work, and would be easier to find most likely.

My roomate has a set of DSM 450's, he would give them to me for free basically seeing as he's into streetbikes now. I always thought that would be a little too much fuel, but if you think they'd run fine for ~220 dynojet whp for the time being, I can always use those.

I plan on working the head next year, so the DSM 450's would definately give me the room to play with.

I'm a little concerned with the driveability with ITB's and 450cc injectors though, should I be concerned with puddling of the fuel at low RPM's even on a low duty cycle? I am using the Suzuki location on the ITB's which sit approx. 6.5" from the port.

Thanks for all the replies. Depending on how long Benson takes, I should have this setup on the road in about a month

I would go with SL440's and tune it with Chrome Pro....

Ive setup 450's on ITB's before. For being a MAP sensor setup, the car drove well. Although the 450's may seem like overkill for 230-240whp, 8000+ RPMS really cuts down on available injector P/W.
Sounds like your building a beast, Id personally rock some s2k injectors. Cant beat OEM Honda.

iirc, obd2 prelude injectors are 290cc... too small imho.

I'd go with 430-450cc... better to oversize than run high fuel pressure and duty cycles...

You can even get 550cc saturated injectors from RC now, so that's a good option if you're concerned about a stable idle..... and they're easy to sell if you decide to part stuff out later.....

s2k injectors are a decent size, but if your buildup is SERIOUS they may still be too small - and although they may plug into your stock connnectors easily, you still have the problem of their height - which you will need to shave your fuel rail to fit them correctly.....

Heres some info about factory flow rates, rated at 43 PSI.

Busa injectors are rated at about 240cc. 97+ H22 injectors are rated at about 285cc. 96 and below H22 injectors are about 340cc. The S2000 about 360cc.

The 370cc injector should provide enough volume to support 220+ HP at the wheels.
