Actually the exhaust cam is the same, the CTR intake cam is a little more aggressive. Because ITR cams are usually cheaper, people tend to buy an ITR exhaust cam, and a CTR intake. If they're the same price go w/ the CTR's. Either way you're going to see a difference.

Just make sure that they really are CTR/ITR cams. Unless you know what to look for, you may not be getting what you are paying for. Do a search for pics that show the differences between the different DOHC VTEC cams.

yea the 2001 itr cams are exactly the same as the ctr cams. The older ITR cams had -3 duration on the intake cam.

most type r cams you find tho are gonna be the older ones. i have ctr intake cam and itr exhaust. See most people think that skunk2 stage one cams are the same spec as ctr cams. well they are EXCEPT the ctr cam has alot longer duration. i got my camshaft with cam gears(stock ones) for 400 shipped. the way u tell if its ctr, is that at the distributor side of the camshaft there will be 2 rings grooved in. on the itr one there should be one groove unless its the 01 r shaft then it has 2.

i am running the b16/type r cam setup and i would def. recommend it....however,if a ls/vtec is built right it will make about the same hp as the b16 but with a little more torque...so if u kow someone who builds ls-vtecs and can give u a hand or if u think u can handle it on ur own then go for the ls/vtec(read lots and lots of info b4 u start tho...not as easy to do right as most people think....goodluck)

it reallt is. I was gonna go lsvtec after i smog reffed my LS crx but the car was stolen so i said screw it i'll lose money if i try it now so i got a new crx and dropping gsr. Lsvtec is pretty nuts but like he said read your **** before you start, arp bolts and some good bearings, vtec oilpump, and just to be on the safer side, use a thicker head gasket so your copression isnt through the roof unless you plan on finding some race gas. actually high octane works but serioiusly if its gonna be a street/ mess around car you dont need 11.6:1 compression or higher. Do it all to spec and you wont have a problem at all. there has always been a constant war on people against it and people with it. the people that blow their motors, are people that are careless and throw them together, then the rod bolts go.

the b16 would be nice too i mean, the typical usdm Si with a b16 swap full interior runs 14.5. But lsvtec's tend to sit around the 13.6 area alone. well in a crx that is. either or its just up to you. its cheaper to lsvtec even doing it the right way. you can go b16 and stroke it for that torque tho..
