Thermostat install gone bad, bolt broke and got stuck
92 Prelude Si.
Removed the old thermostat, put the new one in. Screwed 1 bolt in, everything fine. Then screwing in the other bolt, once it reaches the end of the head and i spin for one final little torque, bolt snaps in 2. So half of the bolt is stuck in (the housing?). With such a difficult angle, it was hard to try to take the bolt out. I used a drill w/ a skeudriver and craftsman bolt out, didnt work. Tried to drill a screw into it but the bolt was snapped in half at an angle so it was really hard to get anything to go straight onto the bolt. Tried the bolt out again at an angle, missed the screw, it put a hole right next to it. The bolt looks like it got heated up and is a part of the housing now.
I gave up, went and bought some red hi-temp rtv silicone gasket stuff and jb weld. I screwed the 1 good screw in, then put the silicone around the thermostat housing. Gonna wait til the morning to see if it dries, will the rtv hi-temp silicone be strong enough to hold the other end of the housing together while at the same time seal it? Maybe put some jb weld on it after the rtv dries as an insurance? will it withstand the temps? the rtv is 650 deg F, JB Weld 600 deg F.
sigh, cars giving me a headache. once this problem is fixed this things going for sale.

it might hold for a bit, but there's no way in hell I would trust just silicone.
If it's what I'm thinking about, just pull the water neck off the head and then you can deal with the bolt however you want. You're making it hard on yourself by leaving the water neck on the engine.

okay looked at the parts diagram picture on slhondaparts.com and looks like its a 'thermostat case' part 19320-pt3-a00 for $36.09.
oh yeah when i took out the old one, on the part that connects to a large hose on the bottom, there was some red silicone, so i guess somebody fixed it before or that is required because that hose goes inside instead of 'over' w/ a tbolt. since i guess you cant use a tbolt when the hose goes inside
