Default new guy, need some help

what's up everyone. i'm new here, don't know much about cars...actually almost nothing. anyways, i have a 88 crx and somebody told me the powerband or something was marked in red on the tack, so basically between 6 and 8 on the tack. i had never really hauled *** and taken it out very far like that so i got pretty far into the red and then it made this real loud noise like banging on steel or something. anyways long story short, the car won't start now so what happened and how do i get it to start now. thanks

Hahaha...that red area is called the redline. The big loud noise you heard was you hitting the fuel cut(rev limit). On Hondas the rev limit is a fuel cut. You may have damaged the engine depending on how often you have done this.

If you know where your car makes the maximum power, that is how far it should be taken to make the most use of the power. Your friends integra has an 8000 red line if it is a gsr. That is why he takes it out that far. My car, for instance, pulls all the way out to 8200 no problem(b16a swap) To keep up with him you need to modify your car. Either swap out the engine or turbo the engine you have. The difficulty will depend on which model civic/crx you have.

Or you could buy an intake and a lightweight cam gear. It would make your car ......... less annoying.

a loud exhaust does not make a car any faster, it just makes a car "sound" faster. i know because i have a friend with a lound *** exhaust and i have a stock dx exhaust, he shaved weight off his car, and mine has no weight reduction. the only difference in how they run is i have an si tranny and he has a dx one. my car's faster than his still, even with my bad clutch.

Once you get it started, get a cam! Intake is always good and a muffler just frees up horsepower! Get larger piping if you get the exhaust.
