I get home and i pull into the driveway. I park...I come back out and I try and go into Reverse....and NOTHING.....it's completly locked up. everygear is good except reverse....and 5th gear doesn't stick in 5th gear anymore...it's makes a rediculous screech noise and pops out of 5th. this is pissing me off, b/c i just put new MTF fluid in it about november.....please someone gimmie some ideas as to what the hell is going on, the shiftlinkage is being stupid.....i welded it myself, i think that could be 1. problem...
recap: 5th gear screetches....and pops out......Reverse the shiftlinage can't even engage the reverse.....

 

could be the linkage, also check the level of the fluid, i know they tend to leak sometimes. maybe see if you could find anyone with shift linkage they could loan fast to check if its that?

 

i did the welds myself and they are garbage.....and i'm praying to god it's the oil level.....I had this happen to me about 7 months ago...and that's all it was...low mtf....so **** keep your fingers crossed....i know i will. this is my ys-1...this thing i can't afford to lose.

Rather then start a new thread here's the situation on this tranny...2 part question...

The adjustments on the bell housing, the big 1/2" drive nut that can come out....are there any more adjustment screws/bolts on the Ys-1 GSR transmission that i need to know about. I'm thinking that maybe one becmae loose and now it's letting something in the synchro/gear process bind up in 5th gear and not letting reverse engage.

If i was to buy a helms manual....b/c everyone says by one....WEll whcih one should i buy these books are for stock cars and these motors/tranny combos on these cars re from all overt the place...what manual would get me the furthest in trying to figure out this tranny problem....thanks in advance....

I have the manual for the XSI motor.....same thing as the pr3 B16a....and there is a tranny map out...exploded diagram i should say....will this be adequate enough...
