Delaying A/C compressor from activating..
SO.... Electrically inclined ppl... what's the best way to add a diode to delay the compressor from clicking on immediately when starting ? Am I even on the right path with a diode and how long could one possibly delay the activation ?
Well, why the hell would I want to do that ?
LOL... just wondering about this... my car has a remote start alarm and I used it on occasion, most recently to get the car a bit cool before I jump in.
Well, for most of my life, I've started any a/c equipped car with the a/c OFF and then switch it on a few seconds after I start the vehicle. My reasoning is to put less stress on the starter and reduce the amount of drag on the engine for the first few seconds of it's oil-starved turn-over.

Most computer controlled vehicles will not engage the A/C until the engine is at a certain rpm. If you have a G3 Integra combo, this is definitely the case. To test, start the engine with the A/C engaged and check to see when the compressor engages. It takes a little while. You can also unhook the IAC, and you will see that at around 450, the compressor will disengage.
I have a gsr ecu and engine... I know it has some type of control over the fueling prior to the compressor kicking in, but didn't know about the low rpm thing.
Either way, it's not the rpm I'm concerned about... it's putting more accessories on the engine during and right after a cold start.

The compressor does not engage while cranking. It takes a little while after a start to engage. I am not sure how long. Try it and see. The fans turn on and off with the compressor, so you can use them as your indicator.
