Default another Engine Management Thread :)

So, I'm debating between AEM EMS, and Hondata s200. I know the AEM is a lot harder to tune, but i have friends that can tune it.

just wanna know which EMS would benefit me the most

Thanks in Advance.

i dont get the point of these threads, you want people to cheer you on a decision that you already made yourself, if your friends can tune AEM then by all means then get AEM if you have the $$, no system is easy everything has to be learned. hondata will suit your needs more than enuff, you have nothing crazy that would even need to touch an AEM EMS, of course its great expandability for the future. but please search and make a decision on your own. this thread really has no point.

and Crome kills all except Uberdata in terms of value for money.

I made 181 WHP on a stock USDM ITR with a 2.5" exhaust and DC4-1 header on a *mustang* dyno (i.e. 200whp on a dynojet) with a quick street tune (i.e. no dyno time at all - just the pull to measure output) done in Crome.

If you're going to try to do it yourself, give the DIY stuff a shot as it is pretty damn functional at this point, and a lot less expensive. The bottom line is that you can get good results with anything - use whatever your tuner is good with.

Answer these questions and see what one you answer with the most and go with it.

What does your Tuner like (if you are not tuning it yourself)?

What features am I really going to use (in relationship to the systems that support it)?

What is your real budget for EMS and tuning in relationship to what features you are going to use?

You will probably find that you will use less features then you think you will. You do not need a top dollar EMS to just tune your timing and fuel maps.

Like blundar pointed out, there is good freeware out there if you research it and learn to use it.

IMHO, you have to like spending money to buy an Autronic, AEM EMS or even a hondata S200 setup for a build as mild as you describe. That is a humble opinion - take it for what it is worth.

And if you get JDogg involved to tune your ****, don't turn your back on him cause he loves wild mansex. (He is pretty sharp with the EMS tho )

Yea, AEM EMS is really expensive. Where can i go to read more on this Crome/Uberdata?. I'd like to leanr more about that.

Also i was thinking about going with a Chipped obd1 ECU, and a VAFC. And just tuning with that?

http://forum.pgmfi.org (Crome section)

VAFC = stepchild of s8n
E-Mangle er E-manage = larger stepchild of s8n
