Radiator Leak questions
I've got a 92 Accord EX automatic. I noticed that there was some steam coming from under the hood on my drive in this morning. I opened the hood and checked the radiator. It appears to be leaking from the seam near the top of the radiator. Its not the cap or a hose, but what looks like the seam that run across the entire length of the radiator. It almost looks like there is a gasket of some kind. Is this wishful thinking or is the radiator toast?
Thanks in advance.

haha....the old egg trick!!!!!!!!! might work for a lil bit but i wouldn't trust it for more than 10 miles!!!!!!!LOL......i would just replace it and if your strapped for cash go to the junk yard!!!!!
Thanks for the replies. Money is a little tight, but I worry about using a Junkyard radiator. Has anyone tried an autoparts store replacement or should I just stick to OEM?
There's online places like http://www.manhonda.com who sells OEM stuff cheaper. Even if you can't find it on their website, I've bought just about anything by just calling.

might want to try http://www.hondapartsdeals.com they are a couple bucks cheaper than http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and cool thing about both sites is that they have diagrams showing the parts same as the dealership has. I've ordered many things from the hondaautomotive parts place. They ship pretty fast.
Thanks for the links. hondapartsdeals has is for $209. Manhonda has it for $212. Majestic has it for $212, but they want almost $30 in shipping and handling. Local Honda dealer wants $300.90. They must be on crack.
We have a 92 Accord with a balky cooling fan. The specs say that there are 3 sensors - a dash board guage sensor, an engine temperature sensor (which is supposed to regulate the fuel injector system) and the switch which turns on the cooling fan. I cannot determine which sensor is which.
I replaced what I thought was the Engine cooling sensor (on the engine block next to the thermostat on the front of the passenger side of the engine) and the fan seems to work until the ignition switch is switched to full on. Then it stops. As soon as the ignition switch goes back to accessory or OFF the fan turns on. The parts store said the real cooling fan sensor is in the radiator. I cannot believe that, I pulled the radiator completly out of the car and did not see a sensor!
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I don't have a '92 but I think there's a fan timer module (in addition to the fan relays) and 2 fan switches. Try to get your hands on a wiring drawing for your year. Somewhere around '92 or '93 Honda changed their control philosophy for radiator fans, so be careful about what people tell you. Newer cars have only one fan switch & it's in the thermostat housing (which is at the back of the head).

Schmitey,
Any issues with the install? Did everything fit like it should? I'm debating on using an autoparts store replacement, but don't want to sacrafice quality to save a few dollars.
Anyone else have any recommendations on aftermarket radiators and their quality. I've only got 154K miles and I plan to drive it another 150k.

I'm still weighing my options between OEM and aftermarket. How does an aftermarket radiator quality compare to the OEM. Is there anyone with an aftermarket radiator that can tell me if the install went smoothly. Did everything fit? Any problems with its performance?
Thanks.
Thanks.
