Default cracked radiator..

for quite a long time now ive been losing a shitload of coolant... ~.5-1 gallons per 5-6 miles or so. i finally found the crack (i think) where coolant is spraying just on the top of the radiator, under the frame support, right next to the hood latch... is there a temporary fix i can do to have the thing driveable until i can get a hold of a new radiator? anyway to close it shut for a few days while i wait for a new radiator to come in?

i had a simalar prob....but mine was down by the lower rad. hose so what i did was take it out and crimp real hard on the silver tabs on the rad. it seemed to have work pretty well....no more leak. you could try that but it sounds like your leak is in a tough spot to do that.

bahaha...

But seriously, you described exacstly what happened to my gsr a while back. I tried using JB weld to seal the crack, but it didn't do anything. Replace it...no worries.

I wouldn't chance it and drive around. Let it sit and get a new one. Don't go overheating it and blowing a headgasket because you couldn't wait a day or 2 for a radiator to come in.

i used this steel/metal weld putty stuff on mine until my new radiator came in and it held up pretty well....id suggest using a putty so you dont contaminate the system and just make sure you clean the surface youre putting it on real well, like scuff it up with a file so it'll adhere good.

Examine the damage to the radiator. It the crack is small and you know how to solder, you can remove the radiator and after cleaing it thoroughly, steel wooling it, you can solder it. I did it on an old radiator I had and I PERMANENTLY repaired it! Depends on your skill level at soldering. Why by new when you can spend 5-10 mintes and have the old one as good as new?
