Balancing Shafts
What are the pro's con's of removing balancing shafts...
I know the only motors that these really apply to are the prelude motors. But the new K24's have them too. I am thinking about removing them from my motor and putting in the RSX-S oil pump. I have been told this will free up a few more ponies, but I am doing it just to make the motor a little more basic, especially if they are not really needed.
I have read that removing them adds a little more vibration in th cabin, but is there any real harm in doing it?
BTW this car will be used for Road racing and occasional street use...

Well I dunno about K24's but on H-series the shafts supposedly make little difference. More vibration in the pedal and in the cabin/chassis in general. More vibration in general means that loose bolts will vibrate out, hoses and wires will wear if they are rubbing on anything else and possible short out/spring leaks. More vibration is a PITA if you are just driving around dealing with traffic and trying to listen to the stereo...

summary: 2whp and 3wtq across the board But this is an H not a K...
I suppose that there is no real near-term detrimental issues with taking the balance shafts out. Another benefit though is that you should have more oil pressure/flow that is not dedicated to oiling the shafts.
I get a lot of vibration (if I have my hand on the IM it'll make my hand numb for a second) at about 6000-6400rpm on my 97mm stroke engine but that is still not a K. So it's up to you.

yah I know what you are saying. I am not to worried about the extra vibration, the mounts that theyu make for these K swaps are pretty hardcore already...
I am more interested in someone that has had them out for a while, I want to know if there car is still running?
Any long term effects?
Thanks Pirate, I will ahve to read that thread...
