What is the size of the stock rims? ;)
Hold on a sec. I know, you're just itching to post "15x6" or "Look in the FAQ n00b". But I have a little something different in mind.
Like most of us, I "knew" that the stock rims are 15x6, which means that their diameter is 15 inches and their width is 6 inches... until I packed up a couple of wheels for shipping today, and found a lot less extra room than I expected. That's when I got out the tape measure. I found out that the rims are actually slightly more than 16 inches in diameter, and slightly more than 7 inches in width. I assume the 15 and 6 measurements refer to some part of the wheel that comes into contact with the tire, but those are NOT the outer dimensions of the wheel.
I learned something new today, and thought I'd share...

Rims are measured based on where the tire bead sits. Ken, you are correct however, when we balance wheels, we have to measure the wheel by its TRUE width.

That pair, yes. But I have lots more. Too many...
It was funny, because I went out to buy a box for shipping, and I just assumed that the wheels were 15x6 each. As it turns out, the box I got was perfect (16x16x16 interior dimensions). Good thing they didn't have a box that was 15x15x13, which is what I thought I needed...
