I've been hearing on installing alpines that you should use a seperate power wire of a bigger gauge than stock (like 16-12g) run to directly to the battery, fused of course.
I'm installing an Alpine cde-9843 into my friends ride and I'm not sure if it needs it. Will my stock power wire be ok or am I missing out on not hooking it up to a seperate wire of bigger gauge?

do to the column for constant 12-volt wire. it's easier and mostly the same principle. if you'll pm me what car you have, I'll tell you what color and wear to tap the wire...

What about going to the fuse box and using an acc outlets? So you are saying that connecting the power with the stock power wire is not very effective??

I tend to stay away from the fuse box...and yes I am saying that. The stock 12v constant wire does not provide the current draw that radio needs to perform correctly. Honestly, I don't know what your car's radio circuit is capable of, but better safe than sorry right?

I pulled the harness out and the power and ground wires are pretty fat, I'd say at least 16g wire. I just PM'd you. So I'll be hooking it to another source. Thanks DAatagonist.
