16"x7" wheels - what tire size best for auto-x?
I recently went from 15" to 16" wheels. I am having a hard time finding good tire sizes in the tires that I want. I'm used to using 205/50/15 azenis. The only size for 16" in the Azenis (not new ones) is 215/45/16 or 205/55/16... I wish they had a 205/45/16 cause I am a little scared of rubbing with the 215/45/16 cause Azenis are a little wider than most. Anyone running 16" Azenis on an EM1/EK and how are they working for you? How low is your car? Any other good street tire choices? Don't really want to step into R-compunds since the car is also a daily driver and I need the treadwear to be reasonable.
if you ONLY run these tires for autocross, still with the azenis...but if its a multi use tire. get the new hankook ventus rs2(205/45-16) or a slightly smaller size in the falken rt-615 (also brand new) with the 205/40-16. all the stick, but with a little more all time traction. unless you are talking FULL ON auto-x with some insane suspension set up, you probably will be MORE than happy with the hankookrs2/falken 615. any other questions, let me know im a manager at Discount Tire in Indy.
these will be my daily driven tires plus will see 15 or so auto-x's. I am considering the rt615 but they are more $$$ and I haven't read any reviews on them yet.. i will look into the hankook. thanks for the input.
