right now i have the same problem 12345 and no R .i feel stupid when i go out and have to push the car on parking lots jejeje i have a formula 1 prelude jejeje

this happened to me when i grinded into 5th gear one time. i opened up the tranny and found that when i grinded into 5th i ground the hub and sleeve which made a lip so it wouldnt go into reverse. i rebuild my tranny after that because it was already out and part. that was what was wrong with my tranny. might be different for you. bent reverse fork or the reverse fork shaft peice is missing a bolt. this bolt is seen from the outside of the casing.

I had the same problem, it would also scratch going into 5th...turned out to be the reverse idler was bad as well as the shift forks in the tranny. ouch.

 

I also have had this problem in my prelude having to push it in parking lots ect ect but i found the only way to fix the problem without tranny work is being easy on it and not shifting hard. then in 1- 3 days of driving it started smoothing out n working again.

 

OK Got reverse back (for now)......I had been driving around trying to baby my tranny till I could save up for another. here and there I would pray and try to find reverse. Last night I jumped in car went for the futile reverse attempt and I felt it starting to go in. HOLY **** I let the car roll back till it found reverse and caught......then outta sheer excitement I drove the car in reverse for almost two blocks......after I relized I was gonna get arrested.....I started going from first to reverse repeatedly (Clutch Depressed) I noticed every time It would hit reverse it would get easier and easier......so I started 1st gear roll foward...reverse gear roll backwards....1st gear foward...reverse ba..etc.etc..... When I parked the car I left it in reverse, got in this morning and reverse is fully functioning.....
