Default Reverse Problems----Manual, Reverse

Here's the problem. Reverse is completely gone and will not shift in. Won't even grind when you try to put it in. 5th gear grinds a little. So this leads you to beleive the shift forks are broken right? We drop the tranny take a looksy...Nothin...Replace shift forks anyway and reinstall. Tranny works fine. 5000 miles later same crap. What the hell. Thiers only 80k miles on the tranny and it allready needs to be rebuilt...twice!? This is really starting to **** me off mainly because transmission parts are not cheap, even at cost. Pulling the tranny on a Prelude is NOT EASY. So this time around we are goin to replace the entire shift shaft, forks, and bearings...If this doesn't fix it...I don't know what the hell else to do...so is thier anyone else out thier heard or experienced this crap because some information would be very helpful.

my friend's did this exact same tihng but it's because he ripped the teeth on a few gears from too much speed shifting, and was left with 4th gear.

May be the reverse syncro pack.....it is easier to replace than a forward gear.....if your 5th is going though you may need a whole new tranny (or some serious repair to the existing one)

Well to rjr the teeth are fine. The gears themselves are in great condition. I don't speed shift hardly ever, maybe auto-x but thats only a 1-2 and maybe 2-3 shift. It has to be the forks. But the problem is I don't understand whats making the forks misalign. Well my dad gets back in town on wednesday. Clutch gets here thursday. So we will probally start the end of this week or next week. Damn transmissions
