Default Why are so many people doing 92 DX MPFI swap in their CRX DX?

I am a newbie in this kind of thing so please enlight me. Does it make more sense to put in 89-91 CRX Si MPFI? Please correct me if I am wrong. Is there any website I can read up on all of these techies knowledges? Thanks again.

theres no site that i know of that goes into specifics about the swap or anything. i have a 90 DX HB and i did the MPFI swap with a 92 DX FI system. its a proven fact that 5th gen(92-95) FI systems flow better than 4th gen(88-91) FI systems.

Doing the 88-91 MPFI upgrade on the 88-91 DX motors is a 12-14 HP upgrade.

FYI the 92-95 DX intake manifold has the same size/shape runners as the 88-91 Si/EX's.

Respect the 1.5's, else your B16 might get beat.

I think 12-14hp is a bit off.. You are looking more around 5-8hp
If you plan on upgrading the cam also, you might get the extra 3-4hp.. I do lots of work with d15's and d16's and they are great little motors. I couldnt imagine running the DPFI setup, but I know a guy who is running a turbo on his d15 DPFI setup, check out my website.

D15b2 92hp
D16a6 108hp

Jeff

D15B7 = 102 hp
D15B2 = 92 hp

ONly cjange what the intake manifold to a 88-91 Si size and TB had newer bolt pattern.

I just measured a 89 dx cam vs a 95 dx cam both 1.5l. The Newer cam has a slightly larger lift then the older dx cam.. this is probably where the extra HP is acheived.. I will find a d16a6 cam and measure it to see if its the same as a d15b7 cam..

i can already tell you that the D16a6 cam is different than the D15b2 cam.

let's not forget that the 88-91 d15 DX engine is .6 more comression than the d16a6... I think tha tthat alone MORE than makes up for the .1 liters more displacement.

I say the 1.5L with the Si cam, Si intake manifold and throttle body would make 110-115 hp just shooting from the hip.

Wait so you can swap a 92-95 dx mpfi system with a 88-91??? Cuz right now i have a DX and im still running with the DPFI and i was planning to convert it to MPFI using the 88-91 fi system, so would swaping the 92-95 dx mpfi system be the same as swaping the 88-91 fi system. Does anyone have any info on this?
TIA

Please help me simplify my shopping list.

In order to upgrade my '89 DX 1.5 DPFI to an MPFI system, would I be correct in seeking the following parts:

88-91 Si intake and throttle body OR 92-95 intake and throttle body

AND

Several member replies have suggested a cam upgrade...again, would I be correct in seeking the following parts:

88-91 Si camshaft OR is there another source, besides aftermarket jobbers, for such an upgrade?

Thanks!

So, does anybody know if there is any benefit to swapping the 92 DX manifold onto a CRX Si?

Dan

no benefits. The CRX Si and 92-95 DX manifolds have the same ports and runners.

Just the TB mount pattern is different. Maybe some of the emission crap issues also.

I put a 2000 DX head on my D15B1 ..... just because I got it for $85.

With that and the Si MPFI swap (and an intake and cheap header), my STD is a completely different beast.

I can actually pass in 4th when I couldn't before!! (Only have a 4 spd).

But I know what a B series can do ... so that is high on my shopping list!! The MPFI swap was just a step to a goal.
