05 Accord alarm install - will it void electrical warranty?
just got an 05 accord lx 4dr 5mt, dealership told me that if i installed an aftermarket alarm, it would void the electrical warranty. their alarms cost $600+, so i said to hell with that. just wondering what my options are, and if any of you guys have had experience with this.
i was thinking that maybe i could install the alarm in a way that the dealership wouldnt notice if i brought it in, or install it in a way that i could remove visible parts easily? iono if this is a long shot, any opinions on the subject are appreciated. im just scared because i hear about all these bone stock hondas getting broken into the time, and im scared for my car. also, if you have other thoughts on anti-theft, itd be appreciated. thanks!

i would invest in the Auto Loc in the mean time. - the club that locks between the floor and clutch or brake pedal. i would say throw in a couple of kill switches but your car is still new and under warranty. if you look in the Audio / Security / Video section you'll find which alarm to get. i hope that helped you bit.
bump..
still looking for ideas that will help me keep my warranty. thinking about a hidden rocker switch for the fuel pump, that should be easy to conceal from thieves/dealers.

Depends on the situation, I just had to replace a fuse box that was fried by an aftermarket alarm that was professionally installed. Customer was responsible to us and is trying to get his money from the alarm guys, not a warranty issue.
Unless you are skilled with electronics I would not DIY an alarm into a new car. It is very easy to screw something up.

how hard could it be to install simple electronics? i have plenty of friends that are n00bs to electronics and they installed their alarms just fine. itd be pretty hard to fry a fuse box unless you wired something to the wrong place, didnt use a fuse, or used a fuse that had too high of a rating for the job.
cmon guys, i know someone out there has played with their still-under-warranty accords. any help here?

What people tend to not understand is that the electronics in the new cars are so sensitive that if you tap into the wrong wire or shared ground it can alter the resistance or voltage enough to set a DTC. Especially in the SRS system.
I just had a 00 prel that had an ABS light on because the large retail chain that installed his alarm accidentaly cut a wire for the system and soldered it back together. We had to replace a 9 foot section of wire from the harness because the solder joint was causing increased resistance. Cost to CC, about $200 in labor.
