I adjusted my throttle cable a little too tightly today, and when I went to start the car, it instantly shot up to 5k rpms ! After about 3-4 seconds, I turned the car off. Loads of white smoke came out of the exhaust while it was on though. The thing that I worried about was that it was about 40 degrees today, and that was the first time I started the car all day, so the engine wasnt lubricated or anything. I took it out for a drive after that happened, and everything seemed fine, but do you guys think I couldl have caused some hardcore damage ??
its just like starting your motor after doing an oil change with out priming the filter. But at that high of rpm could have done a very small amount of damage since you shut it off after 3-4 seconds. At next oil change put in that restore(looks like soda can) and you will be fine.
temperature had something to do with it too. Cuz mine starts up at 2-2500 rpm when its cold out. i wouldnt worry about it.
