Diffrences between b16 and c5 transmissions?

Default Diffrences between b16 and c5 transmissions?

i tried searching, i searched under diffrences between a b16 and b18 transmissions, i searched under b16 and b18 all kinds of stuff

so i was hoping someone could point out the differences between say a itr trans and a 99 up si b16 trans

as far as i know its the lsd and i think 5 gear but im not sure

Well they are both 5 speed if that's what you meant by that.

for B18C5 and B16A2 transmissions the only difference is the B18C5 has LSD. The gear ratios and final drive are the same.

96-97 JDM ITR transmissions are the same as above. Only the 98+ JDM ITR transmission is different with a 4.785 final drive.

98 abd above jdm itr tannys also have a taller 4th and ffth gear

Older B16 trannys had smaller differential housings (ie: you could not fit an ITR LSD into a B16A1 tranny w/o modification), but around 95 or 96 (someone will know the exact year) the differential housings were changed to that of a B18 sized housing. Could have happened when the civics went from SiR-1 to SiR-2.

No carbon, just double cone (only second gear)

but are the clutches and flywheels interchangeable on those 2 trannies?

YES.....they are interchangeable....itr fw alittle less in the mass....

b20z
all can use the same clutch flywheel

b18a tranny depends on the number of splines on the inputshaft

First GEN JDM B16a trannies YOU MUST COUNT SPLINES!!
they mix'd and match'd that tranny!!!

Don't forget, some B16 trannies in the 92-95 SiR's came with an LSD as an option.
