Hey MSD 6AL in a Teg with Blaster coil and msd cap 8000 rpm chip in the box.. When i start the car i can hear a ticking from the box ... almost sounds like spark scatter ... ticking goes with the cars RPM.. the box is installed on the passenger side behind the glove box.. thats why i can hear it so clearly... any help would be great guys... could the box be to far away from the coil/dist possibly?

I'm at work so i cant check back on here much but if anyone has heard of this problem cause i have never had this problem with a MSD install... the one on my car works fine but if anyone knows anything please PM or post up thanks

 

come on someone has to know something about a ticking MSD box...

 

something is mostly wrong with the box,i have the same setup but i am using 2 step,and my box does not make any noise

 

mine ticks also.. anyone have any ideas?

 

yeah guy just drove it down here so i could hear it its tickin on the side with the wires comming out.. its a suddel ticking at idle and speeds up about 2x speed when you blip the gas a little... never heard of this occuring before ... this 6al used to be in my civic and i never heard it tick once but i have forged internals so i probably wouldnt have noticed that over the motor... i listened to the BTM in my car just now and it doesnt tick... im really confused tho... box is working still just fine just has the tick to it and i dont have any ideas to try to solve it other than have someone take it apart and look at it or get a new box...all the connections where good all other ignition parts were brand new coil/cap/wires just my old box

 

I've got an MSD SCI in the glove compartment behind my driver's seat in my Sol and it has always made a quiet little electric ticking kinda thing. A buddy of mine has a Prelude with an SCI, and it has always made that little noise too. I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with it. If you don't like the noise, move it to somewhere where you won't be able to hear it.
I can't hear it when I'm driving with the top off, so I don't care much!

yeah mine ticks a little, but it doesnt get any faster with the rpms or anything, and everything seems to work fine, so i never really worried about it


just turn the radio up more
