I had this too, right after a new timing belt on a D16Z6 - I thought I must've been off by a couple teeth. It fixed itself though. Couple months later I sold to my brother...I haven't seen the car personally, but he says the idle is loping again occasionally. I don't know why.

Bump for info.

actually it sounds more like your FITV, IACV or a Vac leak. If it does it on a cold start, its your FITV. But if you dont have one, then its your IACV or it could be a Vac leak. The FITV and IACV is what controls the idle at startup. So therefore it must be one of them. But check your FITV first bcuz the FITV is what controls the idle at cold start and when its warm, it switches it off to the IACV to control it. Just clean them up with carb cleaner. If cleaning them doesnt do it, they could be broken and you'll need to buy another one.
